North Wexford plays a key role in raising funds for hospice charity
NORTH Wexford played its part in Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning last week in aid of County Wexford Hospice Homecare.
Participants included Mary and Ivan Rynhart of Ballyfoley, Camolin, Springmount Garden Centre and Paul and Ailish Little of Donishall in Askamore.
Hundreds of people visited the home of Mary and Ivan who have raised more than €1,500 for the charity. Mary said they had visitors from 9 a.m. all the way through to 12 midnight when the last guest went home.
‘I was glad to see a lot of new faces this year,’ said Mary. ‘It is a great sociable evening for all who come. I really want to thank my friends and husband Ivan, I would not have been able to do it without them.’
Mary and Ivan have been holding the coffee day for many years and look forward to doing it all again next year.
Over in Springmount Garden Centre, there was a record turnout and the team raised an astonishing €1,100 through the coffee morning in aid of Hospice Homecare.
The Springmount team said they would like to thank all those who supported this year’s coffee morning for the local hospice and look forward to next year.
Paul and Ailish Little and Ailish’s mother, Mary Walsh, raised €713.
The charitable event was Ailish’s third year, while it was Mary’s 21st year.
‘My mother used to do it in Enniscorthy with Mick Butler and Peggy Carter from Mick’s home in Cherry Orchard,’ said Ailish. ‘Since I began doing it from my home my mother began to give us a hand.’
Ailish said she would like to thank those who supported the coffee day, gave donations and a special thanks to anyone who brought homemade baked goods.
County Wexford Hospice Homecare has been participating in the Bewley’s sponsored national coffee morning event for more than 25 years. It is one of the major fundraising campaigns held each year.
