SYMPATHY

Sincere sympathy is extended to the family of the late Jackie Whelan RIP, Tomnalosse­tt and formerly of Ballyorley, who died on Saturday, September 22, in his 92nd year.

Jackie was predecease­d by his beloved wife Mary (Lily), his brother Greg and is mourned by his sons Joe, Christy and Edward, daughters Catherine, Patricia and Caroline, his brothers Tom, Ned and Laurence, sisters Lizzie, Maidie, Tot and Catherine, grandchild­ren, great-grandchild­ren, son-in-law Tom, daughterin-law Sheila, extended family, neighbours and friends.

His remains were waked in his daughter Catherine’s residence in Ballyorley on Saturday and Sunday and removal to St Cormac’s church took place at 11.15 on Monday for Requiem Mass at midday, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. Sincere sympathy is extended to the bereaved.

On Tuesday evening, September 25, the under-nine squad finished up their year’s training with a fun night. They took part in some great fun activities, losing to the parents in the tug-of-war but beating them in the hurling match, winning the game with a last minute goal. The 25 players were presented with wrist-bands and all thanked the coaches, Micheál Stafford, Micheál Somers, Ann and Noel Butler, Diarmuid O’Hanlon and Bobby Larkin for their dedication and hardwork.

Coiste na nÓg would like to thank Pettitt’s SuperValu, Enniscorth­y for their gendrous donation of 50 footballs to the club. Well done to the under-17 footballer­s who booked their place in the county final, beating Oylegate by 8-5 to 2-6.
