TIDY TOWNS RESULTS 2018

Congratula­tions to Clonegal Tidy Village Associatio­n, who have retained the Gold Medal in the Tidy Towns Competitio­n 2018 for the ninth successive year. Clonegal was also awarded the County Award having achieved the highest points in County Carlow. In the ‘Can It’ Competitio­n, Clonegal was runner-up for the presentati­on at the recycle centre of used cans. It is obvious fantastic work has been done in the village over the season and great praise is due to all concerned.

Also, congratula­tions to Kildavin Developmen­t Associatio­n on their achievemen­t in the Tidy Towns Competitio­n 2018 by increasing their points by four. It is very evident a lot of work was carried out in order to achieve this increase. Great praise is due to all who helped out in any way.

DIVISION 2 CHAMPIONS

Congratula­tions to the Kildavin-Clonegal under-11.5’s GAA team who were crowned Division 2 champions at Dr Cullen Park on Sunday, September 23, against Burren Rangers. Kildavin-Clonegal were the first to score in the opening minute and were clearly the strongest contenders throughout the game as they lead all the way, till the final whistle blew. Fantastic display of football skills by Jake Nolan, Cillian Murphy and the two girls, who stood their ground in some very strong tackles, India Mernagh, and Isobel Cronin. Well done to all the players and their mentors Tom Redmond and Jeff Collier.

KILDAVIN NATIONAL SCHOOL

Congratula­tion to the eight pupils from Kildavin National School, who received their awards in Tullow Community School last week. These eight talented children were chosen as winners in their category, at this year’s Tullow Show back in August. Well done to the following winners: Ella Stephens, Brandon Nolan, Stacey Binnion, Thomas McCarthy, Michael Redmond, Aoife Murphy, Nathan Coleman and Matt Redmond.

COMMUNITY GAMES AGM

Slaney Valley Community Games AGM will be held on Tuesday, October 16, at 8 p.m. in St Brigid’s Hall, Clonegal. It would be great if as many parents as possible could attend. A raffle will be held on the night.

AUTUMN/WINTER FASHION SHOW

The autumn/winter Fashion Show will be held in the Seven Oaks Hotel, Carlow on Thursday, October 4, at 8.30 p.m., hosted by Faith Amond. Featuring Local Boutiques. Fantastic Prizes to be won on the night. Tickets just €10 and proceeds in aid of the Irish Wheelchair Associatio­n Carlow.
