TABLE QUIZ

Kilanerin Tidy Towns are holding a table quiz in Murphys Kilanerin on Friday, October 26, at 9 p.m. €10 per person table of four €40 Raffle on the night. Please support.

BOWLS

Kilanerin indoor bowls are looking for new members to join, meeting on Thursday evening from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Kilanerin Community Centre. Everybody welcome to try something new.

KILANERIN ICA

Pilates is on Thursday evening from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Shamrock hall in Kilanerin €6 per class or eight classes for €45.

COMMUNITY WORKER

Rathpierce/Ballyfad Community Group wishes to recruit a community worker. The community worker supports local groups in the maintenanc­e of public areas and community buildings and assists in the developmen­t of new community projects. Hours are 19.5 hours per week. This is a DSP sponsored Community Employment Scheme and applicants must meet DSP qualifying criteria. Some previous relevant experience would be an advantage. Contract terms and weekly payment is as per DSP conditions for schemes. Applicants should send their CV and covering letter to the parish office, Shamrock Hall, Kilanerin. Closing date is Wednesday, October 31.

BADMINTON

Badminton continues in the Sports Centre as follows: Children fourth class upward Monday 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. adults 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. and adults again on Thursday night 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.

GAA CLUB NOTES

A replay after a very exciting senior football final. Another week of tension for the parish and a week of hard work for the panel. See the sports pages to see how the replay went last Saturday.

The under-17 boys’ footballer­s won another trophy for the club when they overcame St Martin’s in the premier shield final. The under-15 footballer­s have their shield final on the 24th at 7.15 in St Patrick Park. That leaves the ladies’ football league and the Men’s under-20 football and hurling still to be completed.

Weather permitting, this week should see the completion of the floodlight­s around Kilanerin pitch. Thank you to all involved. The new center at the Rock is looking great too. A great asset for the future.

GAA DINNER DANCE

Kilanerin-Ballyfad and Tara Rock GAA clubs are holding a dinner dance on Saturday, November 10, in the Ashdown Park Hotel. In addition to celebratin­g this season, the adult teams from 1967,1993 and 2017 will be especially honoured. As you can imagine, tickets are limited for this venue so please book early with: Catherine Breen, Anna Redmond, Tara Fleming, Siobhán Forde, Eleanor Hughes. Cost is €35 and music is by Theresa and the Stars.

DOWN SYNDROME IRELAND

The Wexford branch of Down Syndrome Ireland will hold their church Gate Collection in Kilanerin and Ballfad on Saturday the 27th and Sunday, October 28, Permit granted by An Garda Síochána. All money collected will stay in the Wexford branch to benefit all the children and adults in the Wexford branch. Your support is greatly appreciate­d.

MENS SHED

A place for men to share knowledge, learn new skills, make new friends, do group projects, hang out and chat start a new hobby, A meeting to discuss setting up a Men’s Shed will be held on Wednesday, October 24, at 8 p.m. in Kilanerin Community Centre. All men are welcome.

Michael Wildes of Tara Hill Honey will give a talk at the KCC Café on Thursday, October 25, at 8 p.m. on ‘Bees the importance of them to our ecosystem’. Tea or coffee served at 7.30 p.m. talk at 8 p.m. €5 charge, all proceeds to KCC All welcome.
