Students rewarded for excellence

THE students in Creagh College, Gorey, have been acknowledg­ed for academic excellence at this year’s annual Awards Ceremony.

The build up to the event, which took place in the school on Thursday, October 18, saw great excitement around the facility highlighti­ng what it means for the teachers and pupils.

A record of excellence in academic achievemen­t is something the college prides itself on and this year’s results compounded the school’s reputation as one of the foremost education facilities in the county.

During the ceremony all students who received an A, Distinctio­n, or H1 grades were presented with a medal and some of the high standard work examples were exhibited for parents to view.

Perpetual trophies and plaques were presented to the students who achieved the best overall results in both the Junior and Senior cycles.

This year those two particular awards went to Aoife Byrne (Junior cycle) and Paul Whelan (Senior cycle).

In addition to its academic talent there is also a very creative side to the school that fact was underlined by some exemplary music performanc­es on the night from Jirat O’Neill, Kiah Savage and Donna Gardiner.

All of the pupils were praised for their hard work and commitment and were congratula­ted on their achievemen­ts. Following the formalitie­s visiting parents were able to look around the school and avail of some light refreshmen­ts.
