GAA CLUB NEWS

The very long, and very successful season came to an end for the senior footballer­s in their replay. Both sides of the parish are very proud of their achievemen­ts all year. Congratula­tions to the under-15 footballer­s who beat Starlights to win the premier shield. They have to be team of the week. Congratula­tions too to the school Rackard league boys and girls’ teams who both contest R1 finals after the bank holiday.

There was no jackpot winner in the club lotto. There were three match-three winners. The numbers were 11, 13 (again), 14, 20. The next draw for €5,800 takes place in Noel’s on Monday, November 5.

A reminder of the Rock/Kilanerin Dinner dance, which takes place in the Ashdown hotel on Saturday, November 10.

The clubs will again host a celebratio­n of all the teams who played during the year. This covers U5 to under-18s plus under-20 and adults. Football, ladies’ football, hurling and camogie. Players, parents, siblings and everyone in the community with or without children on any team are invited. Please keep Sunday, November 18, free for an hour or so. The event takes place in the Sportshall, time to be confirmed, possibly 2 p.m. to 3.30 p.m.

GAA DINNER DANCE

Kilanerin-Ballyfad and Tara Rock GAA clubs are holding a dinner dance on Saturday, November 10, in the Ashdown Park Hotel. The adult teams from 1967,1993 and 2017 will be especially honoured. As you can imagine, tickets are limited for this venue so please book early with: Catherine Breen, Anna Redmond, Tara Fleming, Siobhán Forde, Eleanor Hughes. Cost is €35 and music is by Theresa and the Stars.

SCOR NA NOG

Scor na nÓg Co semi-final takes place on Saturday, November 17, In Oulart Communitry Centre, Categories include figure dancing (4, six or eight people) Solo Singing, recitation/storey telling, Ballad group (up to five people) Stage presentati­on (up to eight people) Instrument­al music (up to five people) set dancing (eight people) Participan­ts must be under 17 years of age. The table quiz section takes place on Thursday, November 29, in St Martin’s Complex teams of four, further informatio­n from Margaret Jones at 087 2995443.

KILANERIN ICA

The November meeting is on Monday the 12th at 8 p.m. Marian Kavanagh is doing a cooking demonstrat­ion always a great night none members welcome. The winter outing is on Saturday, January 12, we are going to the Abbey Theatre to see Come from Away with dinner on the way home at Glenview hotel leaving Kilanerin at 9.30. Cost is €40 including bus and ticket to the show €25 deposit required by November 12 contact Leeann at 086 8980475 for more details.

Pilates is on Thursday evening from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Shamrock hall in Kilanerin €6 per class or eight classes for €45.

First lady was Eilish Murphy, second lady was Shirle Leeson, third lady was Peg Kennedy and half time lady was shared by Arlene Dooley and Deirdre Power. First gent was Michael Murphy, second gent was Seán Murphy, third gent was Mary McCarthy and half time gent was Marie Cushe. Student winner was Ross Bailey. Raffle winners were Bernie Walsh, Meg Doyle and May Murphy. Whist continues on Wednesday night at 8.30 p.m.

COMMUNITY WORKER

Rathpierce/Ballyfad Community Group wishes to recruit a community worker. The community worker supports local groups in the maintenanc­e of public areas and community buildings and assists in the developmen­t of new community projects. Hours are 19.5 hours per week. This is a DSP sponsored Community Employment Scheme and applicants must meet DSP qualifying criteria. Some previous relevant experience would be an advantage. Contract terms and weekly payment is as per DSP conditions for schemes. Applicants should send their CV and covering letter to the parish office, Shamrock Hall, Kilanerin.
