Winner of €10,000 ‘Wexford Stories’ film fund to be announced
The Arts Department of Wexford County Council and Bodecii Film will be announcing the winner of the ‘Wexford Stories’ €10,000 Short Film Fund and €1800 in lighting equipment from Teach Solais on Friday, November 30 in Wexford County Council Offices in Carricklawn at 3pm.
Ten Wexford writers including the published author Peter Murphy, Wally O’Neill, Imelda Car- roll, Eoghan Rua Finn, John McGarrigle, Helen Gaynor, Hannah McGiven, Emma Ennis, Conor Martin and Karolina Kraus McKenna are in the running for the award
They were selected to take part in Wexford Screen Writers Professional Development Workshops held during the past year in the National Opera House and Bodecii Film Office with writer Eugene O’Brien (Eden, Pure Mule), Paul Walker (Showrunner, Writer, Producer Red Rock, EastEnders), Writer/Director Ian Power (The Runway, The Guarantee), Writer/Director Laura Way (Red Rock, EastEnders), Alan Fitzpatrick (Filmbase) and David Kavanagh.
On completion of the workshops the writers pitched their 10 page short film scripts to producers and directors in a networking event organised through the Screen Directors Guild Of Ireland in Dublin last May. The writers formed teams to apply to the ‘Wexford Stories’ Short Film Fund and a panel of film professionals selected a winning project last week.
The short film will be filmed in locations throughout County Wexford.
