Tranquil setting for Ferns parish concert
THIS year’s Ferns variety concert was a great success attracting a capacity crowd to the local church.
The event has a strong tradition of excellence and has featured some of Ireland’s foremost music acts in addition to high profile international stars including Charlie Landsborough, Anthony Kearns, Michael English, Derek Ryan, Sandy Kelly, Des Willoughby, Tommy Fleming, Declan Nerney and Louise Morrissey.
The first of the annual events was headlined by Wexford’s own Roisin Dempsey and this year some of the county’s current music stars were part of the line-up including Tony Kehoe, and Theresa and the Stars.
Irish country music star John McNicholl was also among the headline acts along with Olivia Douglas.
The organisers were delighted with the success of the night and described the performances from all of the acts as ‘brilliant’.
‘It was an extremely well supported event with approximately 600 people seated in the church,’ said a spokesperson for the organising committee.
All proceeds from the event will go towards Ferns parochial funds.
The event has always been very well supported each year and never ones to rest on their laurels the organisers are already looking forward to next year’s concert.
The committee Chairperson, Tommy Davitt, thanked everyone who has supported the concert each year and he also acknowledged his colleagues on the parish council for their ongoing dedication and help.
A word of thanks was also conveyed to the event sponsors whose support is greatly appreciated by the organisers.
