Kate and Ciaran wow the judges at strictly final
The very best dancers from Colaiste Bhride Carnew and Creagh College Gorey put their best foot forward having danced their was to the grand final held in the Amber Springs Hotel last week.
Students Kate McConnell and Ciaran O’Keefe in fifth year representing Colaiste Bhride Carnew were the overall winners on the night, followed closely by Mia Robins and Robert Murphy from Creagh College.
‘They did the Charleston for their dance off, it stole the show,’ said Colaiste Bhride vice principal Anna Gahan. ‘We all took the Monday off to rest, it was a brilliant night.’
The three judges, Shelly Askins, Mary Moules and John Hegarty, were given the hard task of picking the winners.
Both north Wexford schools had been hard at work practicing over the last number of months for the final as competition was very high.
‘There was a huge turnout on the night, more than 1,000 people,’ said Ciara Spellman, one of Creagh’s organisers. ‘The atmosphere was electric at the end of the night when the final dance off took place.’
Colaiste Bhride and Creagh College both stressed that the night would not have been possible without the commitment of all the dancers and the staff from both schools
The choreographers were Tara Ann Byrne for Colaiste Bhride and Charleen Breen for Creagh College.
The money raised from the Strictly Dancing Final will be split between the two schools, who will put it towards the day-to-day running of the secondary schools.
