Sky Blues beat Kilbarrack in LFA Senior Cup

-

North End United have had a tough time of it of late, with an injury crisis taking its toll, but on Sunday they gave themselves a boost when overcoming Kilbarrack United in the second round of the LFA Senior Cup.

Gary Dempsey and Lee Wadding both hit the back of the net for the Sky Blues.

Moyne Rangers followed up the previous weekend’s morale-boosting win over champions North End United with a hard-fought 3-2 away win over Rosslare Rangers on Sunday. James Peare, Pa O’Rourke and Pa O’Shea got the goals for the Enniscorthy outfit, with Danny Furlong and Aaron Goff on target for the hosts.

Wexford Bohs got another three points on the board when seeing off Corach Ramblers 4-2. Andy Moore netted a double for the winners, while Jamie Thomas and Dermot Flood added a goal apiece, with Corach responding through Tadhg Cahill and an own goal.

Bunclody fought back from the concession of two early goals for a precious win against Forth Celtic.

The Murrintown men got off to a lightning start, with Ryan Busher firing them in front and Jamie Carty doubling their advantage on 15 minutes.

However, Bunclody pulled a goal back before half-time and turned the game on its head after the interval to eke out a 3-2 victory. Peter Atkinson bagged a double for the winners, while Shane Franklin grabbed their other goal.

Kevin Murphy got on the scoresheet for Bridge Rovers as they drew 1-1 with Courtown Hibs in Castlebridge, with Colum Kinsella scoring for Hibs.

Elsewhere, Shamrock Rovers extended their advantage at the top of the table by beating Gorey Rangers 3-2 (see focus match).
