A festive night to be had at Cá ca Milis Christmas Cabaret

-

NEW ORIGINAL music, spoken word, short film, dance and classic cabaret will all feature at the Christmas Cáca

Milis Cabaret on Friday, December 14 in W exford Arts Centre.

The special guest is Leslie Dowdall, singer-songwriter and solo performer, and a founder of the seminal Irish band In Tua Nua. W ith two solo albums and a range of creative projects under her belt, she will bring songs old and new to the Arts Centre stage. Leslie’s family hail from Bunclody, meaning she’ ll have a warm welcome from the W exford audience.

The literary guest will be author and poet Mary O’Donnell, pictured right. Her body of work includes four short story collections, five novels and seven poetry books.

Gordan Patrick Barry, one of W exford’s most exciting singer-songwriters, will deliver some South-eastern soul. In 2017 he released his debut album The Best W ay To Kill a Monster. Recorded both in Ireland and the US and mixed by legendary Seattle producer Steve Fisk, his most recent single, ‘Old Fashioned Morphine’ is out now.

In the dance slot, the audience can delight in a return visit from Tango diva Ellina Sharmkovskaya, who will be joined by James McManus – not only a Tango dancer, but a decorated war hero from the second world war.

The Ciné Sweetcake brings short Irish film in all forms to the W exford Arts Centre screen, and this time around it’s a Christmas compendium of comedy, original video and more. There will be carols, yuletide cheer, mince pies and more in the spirit of the Cáca Milis Cabaret. The show starts at 8:30 p.m. (doors open 8:15 p.m.) Admission is €8. Seating is limited, so book ahead on 053 913764.
