-

HOOK LIGHTHOUSE has been chosen as one of the top five Best Food & Beverage Experiences for their Sunrise and Sunset Tour and Food Experiences in the 2019 Irish Tourism Industry Awards, the final of which takes place on February 1 in Dublin.

Commenting on their very successful 2018, Hook Lighthouse Manager Ann Waters said: ‘2018 has been a huge success for the lighthouse. Not only have we had an increase in visitor numbers, especially from the international tourism market, but we have received fantastic world-wide recognition for the Hook Lighthouse tour experiences.’

Hook Lighthouse started off 2018 with a successful award win, being announced ‘Ireland’s number 1 Hidden Gem’ in the Irish Travel Awards. The team then went along to win Best Heritage Attraction at the Wexford Hospitality Awards and in early November the lighthouse was presented with ‘highly commended’ in the ‘Best Tourism Project in the UK and Ireland 2018’ award category by the British Guild of Travel Writers at their annual World Tourism Award.

The Sunset and Sunrise Food & Tour Experiences have been short-listed as one of the county’s top five experiences for the 2019 Irish Tourism Industry Awards. In recent years Hook Lighthouse has undertaken a strategic review and development of its tour experience and offering, developing a brand new visitor experience and additional evening and early morning tour and food experiences at the 800-year-old lighthouse.

It is also presently commencing a three-year development plan with Fáilte Ireland and Wexford County Council, further striving to develop its visitor experience offering within Ireland’s Ancient East.
