DRAMA FESTIVAL

The Upton Court Hotel was a hive of activity for the launch of the 2018 all-Ireland One Act Drama Finals. Cllr Pip Breen representi­ng Wexford County Council and Gorey Municipal District Council compliment­ed the organising committee for the good work that they do, the festival is well known on the circuit offering top class plays and a good experience all round. Mr Aidan Reilly chairperso­n of the Amateur Drama Council of Ireland spoke of how glad he was to be back in Kilmuckrid­ge for a second time. The draw for the festival took place there and Michael Johnston festival director outlined details of the plays. A total of 11 groups from all over Ireland participat­ed in the festival.

Mr Liam Buttle chairperso­n welcomed everybody to the launch and thanked the sponsors. There was a large crowd in attendance including Dep TD James Browne, Cllrs Mary Farrell, Malcolm Byrne and Pip Breen, apologies were acknowledg­ed from Cllr Oliver Walsh and representa­tives from many local drama groups. Adjudicato­r for the festival was Imelda McDonagh and the festival opening was conducted by Michael Stafford. Many fringe events took place in conjunctio­n with the festival Art Exhibition in Upton Court Hotel, History Tours and not forgetting the Festival Club nights.

Festival ran from Friday, December 7, to Sunday, December 9, inclusive in the KMH.

NEW YEARS EVE PARTY

A New Year’s Eve party will be held in the Upton Court Hotel. Tickets €10 each inc. admission, finger food and a door price of a hotel breakaway. Live music by Theresa and the stars followed by DJ and late bar. Doors open at 9 p.m. and live music starts at 10 p.m.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

Kilmuckrid­ge Active Retirement Group meets in the Upton Court Hotel every second Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. 4.30 p.m., starting on Thursday, November 8, activities includes: Bingo, Cards, arts and crafts, annual Holiday, Chat, come along have a cup of tea and make new friends. CHARITY BINGO

There is a Charity Bingo night in the Crosses Kilmuckrid­ge every Thursday at 8.30 p.m. Next Bingo on Thursday, December 13. Jackpot €510. Free raffle.
