MASTERS OF THE GAME

“Masters of the Game “is a novel hurling blitz for over 30s. It will involve 4 teams, namely Cloughbawn, Adamstown, Rapparees and Monageer. The blitz will be on Friday 14th in Cloughbawn GAA grounds at 7.30pm and a collection on the night will be for the charity, Aoibheanns Pink Tie & #TEAMJANGO. Other events on the night include a long puck competitio­n and crossbar challenge. Please come along, enjoy the games and support this worthy cause.

BOOK LAUNCH

‘Where the Boro Waters Flow’ by Damian Cullen will be launched in the Cloch Bán, Clonroche on Thursday, December 13, at 8.30 p.m. This book is combinatio­n of history and poetry largely relating to the Boro River.

The poems are mostly written in the 1930s and 40s by poets who lived near the Boro and preserve history and folklore in their verses. Historic ruins of mills and mansions, ancient churches, bridges and river crossings are all included along with some interestin­g stories about some of Boro’s noted people. Light refreshmen­ts served.

They have now qualified for the Leinster semi-final of the competitio­n and will play Ballinderr­en from Galway on Saturday, January 12, at 2 p.m. Well done to all concerned.

BINGO FUNDRAISER

A very big thank you To Jon Mernagh and the staff of Mernaghs Lounge for allowing Glenbrien Parish to raise funds from the bingo over the last few weeks it was very much appreciate­d by the Parish Committee, to all those who supported it every week, to those who sold the books on the night and those who helped in any way a huge Thank You.
