Radio launched in time for Christmas

-

To get everyone into the spirit of Christmas, a festive radio programme by Ceol mo Chroi and MediasKool is being played through the sound system on the Main Street of Gorey over the next couple of weeks.

The production titled ‘Nollaig i nGuaire’ was officially launched last week outside the Market House, where a large crowd gathered to listen to some Christmas songs.

The honour of pressing the play button on the night went to one of the young workshop participants - Dylan O’Reilly Cullen.

‘It was lovely to have Dylan press play this year,’ said Rachel Ui Fhaolain from Ceol Mo Chroi. ‘We had Dylan’s father Jimi Cullen in the programme last year and this year we have Dylan’s grandfather John Cullen with Gorey Pipe Band.’

The radio programme includes young and old sharing their story of Christmas in Gorey through traditional song, music, poetry and stories while promoting the Irish language. It was all pre-recorded last month before the release date.

Rachel said the launch was a lovely evening which spilled out onto the Main Street beside the speaker at the Market House where the community enjoyed the programme for the first time.

Rachel thanked the individuals and community groups that contributed, the staff at the Gorey Visitor Centre and Gorey Chamber of Commerce for sponsoring the launch and Wexford County Council and Creative Ireland for supporting the project.
