Holders Gorey Rangers are too strong for Bunclody

Gorey Rangers ‘A’ booked their place in the third round of the Creane and Creane Wexford Cup with an impressive 3-0 victory away to Bunclody ‘A’ on Sunday.

Jamie Heffernan, Eric Quinn and Glen O’Brien all got on the scoresheet for the holders, who are looking forward to a last 16 clash against the mighty Sheriff YC in the FAI Junior Cup next Sunday.

Last season’s runners-up, Shamrock Rovers ‘A’, also progressed without too much fuss as they saw off Gorey Celtic ‘B’ under lights on Friday evening.

Marty Kelly (two), Kamil Kutkiewicz and Eddie Black scored for the Premier Division pacesetter­s in a 4-1 victory.

Moyne Rangers, who have gone so close to lifting the coveted cup in recent years, safely booked their place in the third round with a 3-1 win over North End United’s second string.

James Peare (two) and Pa O’Rourke scored for the Enniscorth­y men, with Philly Leniston on target for United.

Wexford Bohs ‘A’ proved too strong for Gorey Rangers ‘B’, winning 6-1, with Seán Pailing and Graham Healy both netting doubles for the top flight side. Dermot Flood and Todd Hynes also got in on the act, with Stephen Hempenstal­l grabbing a consolatio­n for Rangers.

Forth Celtic ‘A’ had far too much firepower for Wexford Bohs ‘C’, with Jesse Farrell, Darren Jordan, Lee Busher, Danny O’Brien (two) and Jamie Carty scoring for the Murrintown men as they won 6-0.

Rob Cousins netted a double for Rosslare Rangers, with Gearóid Byrne and Aaron Kehoe getting their other goals in a 4-1 win over Cloughbawn ‘B’.

Corach Ramblers ‘A’ comfortabl­y saw off the challenge of Caim United, winning 5-0 with goals from Joe Sinnott (two), Niall Harney, Jon Reville and Rob Farrell.

Premier Division strugglers Bridge Rovers needed penalties to shake off the stubborn attentions of Division 3 Wexford Celtic, winning 4-3 on spot-kicks after a 3-3 draw.

Shane Hogan, Kevin Murphy and Andy Doyle all got on the scoresheet for the Castlebrid­ge side, with Luke Codd helping himself to a hat-trick for Celtic.

Bridge Rovers ‘B’ finally got the better of Camolin Celtic 2-1 after extra-time, with Mark Browne and Ray McGlone scoring for the winners and Peter McSwiney replying.

Ferns United ‘A’ were pushed all the way by Division 5 outfit St. Cormac’s ‘B’, before prevailing 2-1. Conor Jordan and Jonny Dwyer got the goals for the winners, with Seán Walshe hitting the back of the net for the saints.

New Ross Town had a much easier passage to the third round as they ran out 8-0 winners over Tombrack United ‘B’.

Dylan Egan helped himself to four goals for the Barrowside­rs, Jack Foran added a hat-trick, while Dermot Rossiter also got in on the act.

New Ross Town ‘B’ were beaten 3-1 by Bunclody ‘B’, with James Brennan (two) and Jamie Wilson scoring for the winners and Dawidd Ruszczychi replying for Town.

Tombrack United edged out Killenagh after extra-time in a seven-goal thriller, with Matthew Hendrick, Kevin Kenny, Eoin Carton and Josh O’Byrne scoring for the winners, and Seamus Doyle, Dominic Maher and Martin Flynn replying for Wanderers.

It was a better day for Killenagh’s second string as they overcame Taghmon United ‘B’ 3-2. Stephen Griffiths (two) and Stephen Doran scored for the winners, with Darren Carty and Daniel Furlong replying for Taghmon.

Taghmon United ‘A’ did progress to the next round, with William McDonald, Luke Sinnott, Adam Sinnott and Brian Doyle all hitting the back of the net in their 4-2 win over Raheen.

Billy Cooney, Kieran Kelly, Chris Connick and Dylan Delaney got the goals for Shelburne United as they overcame Shamrock Rovers ‘C’ 4-1, with Reece Dunne scoring for the Enniscorth­y side.

Division 1 leaders Kilmore United eased past Shamrock Rovers ‘B’, winning 4-0 with goals from Conor Roche, Devin Furlong (two) and Shane Cassidy.

Division 4A side Enniscorth­y Town ‘B’ shocked Division 2 high-flyers Adamstown by coming out on top 5-4 on penalties after a scoreless draw.

Goals from Dave Clarke and Fionn Cooney put Glynn Barntown in the driving seat away to St. Joseph’s and, although Conor O’Leary pulled a late goal back for Joey’s, the visitors progressed 2-1.

Crossabeg ‘A’ earned the local bragging rights with a 5-1 win over Oylegate United. Will McCreary (two), Conor Maddock, Kenny Kavanagh and Cian Doyle scored for the winners, with Gerry Heanue replying.

Crossabeg ‘B’ had a comfortabl­e 4-0 triumph away to The Ballagh United, with Davie Fenlon and Robert Murphy bagging two goals apiece.

James Sheridan netted a hat-trick for Enniscorth­y United ‘B’ in their 7-1 win over All Blacks ‘B’. Rhys Dobbs, Aaron Gannon, Peter Whelan and Ryan Murphy also hit the back of the net for the winners, with Mark Sinnott replying.

Ajax Athletic ‘A’ marched on to the next round with a 4-1 win away to Corach Ramblers ‘B’. Glenn Fortune scored a hat-trick for the visitors, with Adam Fox adding their other goal and Conor Neville replying for Ramblers.

Brendan McCreary and Pa O’Brien both bagged doubles for St. Joseph’s ‘B’ in their 5-1 win over Ajax Athletic ‘B’. Dillon Kearns also got in on the act, while Mark Whelan replied for the Rajahs.

An extra-time goal from Mark O’Connor saw Curracloe United ‘A’ through against Fethard Rangers. Jean-Luc Tubritt fired Fethard in front and they looked to be on their way through to the next round until Conor Hearne forced extra-time with an 89th-minute equaliser.

John Codd, Shane Mythen, Conor Breen and David Moore got the goals for All Blacks ‘A’ as they saw off Rosslare Port ‘B’ 4-2.

A Matty Flynn strike was enough for St. Leonards to beat Bree United 1-0, while Rosslare Port ‘A’ edged out Duncannon 2-1.

Elsewhere, Courtown Hibs beat Gorey Celtic ‘A’ 5-2 (see focus match).
