CASTLEDOCKRELL NS NEWS

Castledockrell National School is now taking enrolments for September 2019; contact the school or visit the school website for further information.

Catholic School’s Week is on from Monday, January 28, to Friday, February 1. As part of our celebrations within the school we will host our annual Grandparents’ Day on Wednesday, January 30, at 1 p.m. We will have a short prayer service, a music display from the pupils, some Grandparent/Grandchild knitting and finish off with some tea and refreshments. This is always a lovely occasion and we look forward to seeing many grandparents and parents on the day.

Thank you to everyone who supported our clothing collection in conjunction with the NCBI last week. We collected over 80 bags.

This week we were delighted to welcome the ‘1798 Spinners’ to the school; they delivered a very informative workshop to the staff and students on spinning. As part of the workshop the spinners took us from a raw piece of wool through the various stages to the finished product, including washing, carding, dying and spinning the wool. The children all made their own drop spindles and used them to actually spin some wool. It was a really enjoyable morning and we thank the members of the ‘1798 Spinners’ for their time.

Best of luck to the four senior room pupils who will represent the school in the Enniscorthy Credit Union Quiz on Sunday, February 3.
