Eventing & Hunter Trials
Eventing consists of three disciplines – dressage, showjumping and cross country phases – each of which is designed to test the horse’s ability. The dressage shows how trainable the horse is and its basic paces in walk, trot and canter; showjumping shows athleticism; and cross country tests stamina, speed, jumping and bravery. There are various levels of competition in this. Every year the Irish Pony Club holds a national eventing championships and the Island Hunt Pony Club host a regional qualifier. The club also provides lessons with excellent instructors throughout the year. Hunter Trials consist of the cross country element only, this time of year there are many hunter trials held all over the county culminating in the Championships, this year held in the Kennels, Wexford on 27th April. Teams and Individuals can compete on behalf of the club.
