Planning refused for 85 houses
PERMISSION to construct 85 residential houses at Ramsfort Park has been refused by Wexford County Council.
Paul Redmond applied to the council in November to develop a residential area that would consist of a mix of two, three and four bed homes.
Refusing permission for the development Wexford County Council said that it considered that any development of the lands in question would be premature. It made reference to the uncertainty of the development of the site to the south and the provision of suitable and safe pedestrian and cyclist linkage to the built up area of Gorey town.
It said if the site were developed prior to the carrying out and completion of these works the proposed development would endanger public safety.
It also stated that the proposed development is located on lands within the Creagh Neighbourhood Framework Plan which forms part of the Gorey Town Environs Local Area Plan.
‘It is considered that the layout of the proposed development, which would remove bulk of the existing site features including hedgerows, would fail to reflect the provisions of the Framework Plan which requires that such features be respected and enhanced as part of an green infrastructure network.’
The proposed development was refused also because there is a requirement to provide a childcare facility for developments in excess of 75 dwellings.
