Top talent take to stage on Saturday

THE Wexford People Wexford Has Talent competitio­n returns this weekend as contestant­s in the second semi battle for a place in this year’s grand final.

Singers, musicians and dancers from all over the county take the stage at the penultimat­e stage of the competitio­n in Clayton White’s Hotel this Saturday night, February 16.

The line-up for the second semi-final includes: The Wexford School of Ballet; Hip Hop dance group from RM Company; singer-songwriter from St. Mullins, Jack Gladney; Group CRJ which includes Jessica Bent, Rihanne Fox and Chris Bent; musical theatre singer Caoimhe Boyle from Ballywilli­am; singer and ukulele player Eabha Keane from Murrintown; singers Evan Roche from Taghmon; Patrice McGillycud­dy, originally from Kerry but representi­ng Barntown; Emma Byrne from Clonroche; Jenny Murphy from Enniscorth­y; Adi Roche O’Leary from Bannow; Chris Flood Hayes from Courtown; Michaela O’Hare from Wexford town; singer-songwriter Luke Spellacy Shaw also from Wexford town; and Hip Hop dance group, Synergy from Gorey.

Three acts from this semi-final will be chosen on the night to take their place in the Grand Final on Saturday, March 9. They will be joined by the three finalists selected from the first semi-final, singer Evey Roche, dance group The Sullivan School of Dance and gymnasts Gym Stars, as well as the ‘golden ticket’ winner who automatica­lly secured a place in the Grand Final, singer Marby Arrioli from Kildare.

At least seven more acts, selected from both semi-finals, will qualify for the final and they will be announced in this newspaper next Tuesday, February 19.

The panel of judges for Saturday night’s second semi-final includes Catherine ‘Biddy’ Walsh, Pat Lawler, Yvette Walsh and Vicky Barron.

Tickets for semi-final 2, at €10 each, are now on sale at Clayton White’s Hotel. The show gets under way at 8 p.m. sharp.

The 2019 Wexford Has Talent winner will walk away with a €2,000 prize. Two additional prizes of €500 will be awarded to the runners-up.
