SOLD-OUT EVENING A BOOST FOR JANGO

- By SARA GAHAN

THE ‘Frocktails and Cocktails’ charity ball for North Wexford’s Colin ‘Jango’ Fleming in the Ashdown Park Hotel was a sell-out.

Organiser Josephine Casey said: ‘People said it was one of the best nights they ever had.’ She said that some people who were hoping to go to the ball were put on a waiting list.

The guests enjoyed a gin and cocktail reception upon arrival, before being treated to a delicious four-course meal in the function room followed by great entertainment from Theresa and The Stars and a DJ who played into the early hours of the morning.

Josephine said she could not get over the amount of prizes that local businesses had sponsored for the raffle that was held at the ball. She said they had more than 40 prizes.

Prizes were presented to best dressed ladies Ann Morris and Denise Davitt, best dressed man Gary Collins and best dressed couple Margaret and Séamus Doyle.

Josephine thanked the staff at the hotel, Catherine Murphy, local businesses, volunteers and those who attended.

The amount of money raised will be announced at a later date as donations are still being handed in.

Colin, who was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia last April, is currently recovering in St James’s Hospital after a bone marrow transplant and hopes to return home in March. He thought the transplant would never happen after being told last August that he only had a few weeks to live.
