Gorey Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area around 5.55am on Saturday and who may have information to contact them.
GARDAÍ are appealing for information following the theft of a one of a kind bike which was taken from Gorey’s Revolve Bike Shop during the early hours of Saturday morning, November 2.
‘The bike was taken at 5.55 a.m. on Saturday and it’s a very distinctive mountain bike worth €11,000. The bike is brand new, has an EVIL frame, and is customised so it is the only one of its type,’ said Sgt John Cleary.
Speaking to owner of Revolve Shop Peter Sinnott, he said that although he didn’t think the robbery was malicious, that it was opportunist.
‘We are downhearted that someone would do something like that after the hard work we put in to custom build the bike. This bike is one of only three bikes in the country, custom built in a unique way. But this one bad act has been followed by hundreds of kind acts from people across Ireland and the UK so we are hopeful and encouraged by the kindness.
‘We have had minor incidents of theft before and just once an attempted break in last year, but in our nine years in Gorey nothing like this. I don’t think this was a professional, it was opportunist but you’d know by the look of the bike that it was expensive as it was one that showcased the high end of our stock’.
Peter explained that from CCTV footage he saw that a man threw rocks in through the front window, which damaged other stock as a result as well as shattering the window itself.
