Feast of country music at Clayton Whites Hotel

A weekend of top class country music and dancing is in store at Clayton Whites Hotel from Friday, November 8 to Sunday, November 10.

Friday night will feature Jimmy Buckley and his band in a double bill with Paddy O’Brien and band and special guest Owen Mac.

Jimmy Buckley is one of Ireland’s finest country music voices with many number one hits under his belt while Paddy O’Brien has been touring successful­ly with his band for over 30 years and has also enjoyed some of the biggest hits in Irish country music.

Sixteen years old Owen Mac is in big demand for guest spots and is featured regularly on radio and television.

On Saturday, The Indians will make it a double bill with John Glenn and the Mainliners.

The Indians have recorded a string of hit songs and perform all over Europe where their dance shows regularly receive rave reviews.

The Mainliners are made up of some of Ireland’s finest musicians. After his own successful career, John Glenn was approached to front the band following the passing of country legend Big Tom.

On Sunday night, it’s the turn of Michael English and his band with Shawn Cuddy and band.

Michael English is a successful songwriter who is a big attraction on the dancing and concert scene. Some of his songs have been recorded by other top entertaine­rs.

Shawn Cuddy is a popular entertaine­r on the Irish country music circuit and has performed sell-out shows in many countries.

Dancing is from 9.30 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights with doors open at 8.30 p.m. and there is an earlier time of 8.30 p.m. to 12 midnight on Sunday, with doors open at 8 p.m.

Tony, Teresa and the Stars will play for a dance on Saturday afternoon from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. while Thomas Maguire and Fhiona Ennis will play on Sunday afternoon at the same time.

All dances will be held in the Clayton Whites ballroom.

Tickets for all dances will be available at the door with a nightly admission price of €20 and €10 in the afternoon.
