Seven matches survive

- SCHOOLGIRLS

SEVEN GAMES survived the inclement weather on Saturday, five of them in the Under-14 section, as heavy rain tested the best of pitches.

Division 1 saw Bunclody overcome near neighbours Ballindaggin 5-0, in a game played on an excellent surface but in very difficult conditions.

Grace Tully, Abbie Murphy and Jenna Conroy all netted one each, while Jade Conroy scored twice.

Played in what were described as ‘trying conditions’, Shelburne overcame St. Joseph’s 3-1 in Division 2A to make it two wins from two games.

Brooke Kehoe scored for St. Joseph’s, but a Keelin Barron hat-trick saw Shelburne secure a vital three points.

In Division 2B, Coolboy Rangers made the long journey to New Ross Celtic a worthwhile one as they came away 8-1 winners against a very young home side.

Sinéad Jones was on target for Celtic, but four goals from Aimee McDonald, two from Rachel Hedderman, and one each from Seren Byrne and Rachel Tighe made the long journey home to Coolboy a more enjoyable one.

Tombrack travelled to Cushinstown and a 3-1 win gave them their second win of the season. Sjoke Finn scored for the home side, but two goals from Anna Tomkins and one from Emer Roche gave Tombrack the three points.

The only game to survive in Division 3 saw Curracloe travel to St. Leonards and remain unbeaten as they came away 4-1 winners.

Doireann Rossiter was on target for St. Leonards, but two goals from Angel Lee Doyle and one each from India McKenzie-Young and Niamh White gave Curracloe victory.

In the only game to survive at

Under-18 level, Aughrim made the short journey to Arklow Town and, after a keenly-contested battle, the visitors came away with all three points courtesy of a 4-2 victory.

A goal from Molly Garland and a Lucy Kemple hat-trick gave Aughrim victory.

Although we cannot report the result of the Under-11 game, Ferns United and Killenagh Wanderers deserve a special mention as it was the only scheduled match in their age group to go ahead.

Well done to players, management, coaches, and parents.
