1 ORANGE TIE BALL: Orange is the new black as the Orange Tie Ball makes its return to Gorey as doors open at 7 p.m. at the Ashdown Park Hotel on Saturday, November 9. All are welcome to come along and give something back to this popular cause which aims to encourage people to ask for help. The annual charity event for Cycle Against Suicide is in its fifth year and this year will see entertainment including music from the Pearls, with a special nod to the ongoing Gorey 400 celebrations as well. Tickets are €50 each or €45 for a table of ten, and organisers are expecting a full house on the night. Local photographer Joe Dixon from Gorey said that the people of Wexford have supported a large number of Cycle Against Suicide events over the years and he expects this year’s Orange Tie Ball to be the best one yet. The Orange Tie Ball will begin with a prosecco reception at 7 p.m. with the big event starting at 8 p.m. and all are welcome to attend. For more information on the event or for tickets, visit cycleagainstsuicide.com or contact Joe Dixon on 087 3389449. 2 DEFENDING THE CAVEMAN: Broadway’s longest running one man comedy show is set to make its Wexford debut on Saturday night as ‘Defending the Caveman’ takes to the stage at the National Opera House. Using psychology, sociology and plain old observational comedy, Defending the Caveman highlights the battle of the sexes – the stereotypical and yet, undisputedly true differences between men and women. Why do men greet each other with insults? Why does it take women so long to get ready? Starring comedian Tom O’Mahony, it looks set to be a hoot! Tickets are priced at €25 and are available from www. nationaloperahouse.ie. 3 SECRET SINGERS CONCERT: Wexford Arts Centre is delighted to present The Secret Singers on Friday night at 8 p.m. The group includes performers of all ages and levels, some of whom have never sung in public before or haven’t sung since childhood. The show will feature a range of much loved songs from different genres including folk, country and pop and there will also be special guest artists. Tickets are €12. 4 FUN RUN: The Riverchapel Community Complex 5K fun run takes place on Sunday, with registration from 11.30 a.m. and the race beginning at 12 noon. It will be timed with all participants receiving medals but there will be prizes for first, second and third male and female. There will be finger food and refreshments and all are welcome. Entry is €8 for a student, €15 per adult and €40 for a family and money raised goes to the development of the community centre. 5 JOHNNY MCEVOY CONCERT: An evening with Johnny McEvoy concert takes place at St Michael’s Theatre in New Ross this Friday. Known for their authenticity, incredible vocals and electric stage presence, Cash Returns have been hailed by many as the most exciting tribute to the man in black around. While you may not get to see Johnny Cash himself, this may be the next best thing! Featuring a string of all his greatest hits, this is a must see for any fan of the country legend.
