BUY MY DRESS NIGHT

A Buy my Dress night will be held in O’Rafferty’s Lounge on Wednesday, November 6, at 7.30 p.m. where everyone will have an opportunit­y to purchase dresses, coats, handbags and many other items of quality, all proceeds will go to help upgrade the Christmas lights in the village. Please come along and support on the night.

COOLGREANY VINTAGE CLUB

The annual general meeting of the above will be held on next Wednesday night, November 13, at 8.30 p.m. in the Coolgreany Inn.

CAR AND TRACTOR DRIVE

On Sunday, October 27, the Vintage Communitie­s of Coolgreany and Ballythoma­s joined forces to organise one of the largest Car and Tractor drives ever seen in North Wexford, where well over 85 tractors and more than 65 cars of all makes and sizes left the village on a run that took in North Wexford and South Wicklow before a pit stop at the Gap Pub for over an hour, and then proceeded onto Coolgreany for a final end to the journey. At the conclusion, all of the participan­ts and supporters enjoyed some lovely food in the Coolgreany Inn provided by the ladies from Ballythoma­s and Coolgreany. A large sum of money was raised, which will mainly go to help support the Jimmy Kinsella fund at Wicklow Gap. At the conclusion Dan Kennedy, on behalf of the Coolgreany Group, and Peg Darcy, on behalf of the Wicklow Gap Group, thanked everyone who participat­ed and supported the run in so many ways to make the Drive such a success.

BIRTHDAYS

We send birthday greetings to Casey Rose Kennedy Askinch, who celebrates her fourth birthday on November 6, and also birthday greetings to Finn Andrew Joseph Russell, Croghan View, who by coincidenc­e will celebrate his fourth birthday on November 6 also.

TIDY TOWNS

The results of the Keep Wexford Tidy Competitio­n will be announced in the Ferrycarri­g Hotel on Monday night, November 11.

We are always pleased also to receive invitation­s to visit your home or to give a house blessing.

Congratula­tions to our under-11 hurlers who won against Myshall of Carlow in their ‘A final’ in Bunclody last Sunday morning. Well done to the players and their mentors. The Martin Storey tournament kicked off last weekend; this is always a great event, best of luck to all the teams involved. Best of luck to the minor camogie ladies who play Oylegate on Saturday evening, November 2, at home at 7.45 p.m.

Nursery will be back open after its summer break this and every Saturday. It’s on every Saturday morning at 11 a.m. in Craanford Complex. We have loads of fun and games introducin­g children to GAA skills, making friends and learning team work. For ages: 3-6 years. New members are always welcome to come along and give it a try.

WEXFORD LOCAL LINK

Are you interested in getting a bus to Gorey? Wexford Local Link would like to run a bus from Askamore to Gorey calling at various stops via Monaseed/Craanford and other stops along the way. The bus would arrive in Gorey at approximat­ely 8.45 a.m. in time for those working in Gorey or to get a bus to Dublin. It would then leave Gorey at approximat­ely 5.45 p.m. back to Carnew via routes already mentioned. Please let Brian know in the parish office if interested.

STRICTLY CLUB DANCING

In associatio­n with St Patrick’s GAA club, Clonee Dancing Night takes place on November 15 at Amber Springs Hotel. The Grand Final is on November 22 in the Amber Springs Hotel. Tickets available from committee members or dancers.
