Council accused of ignoring new facts of Anne St acquisition
MARTIN Power, who is a spokesperson for a group of individuals affected by the Anne Street assembly, was in the public gallery when Cllr Codd raised these issues at the Council meeting.
And Mr Power said he was very satisfied Cllr Codd had taken the opportunity to summarise the irregularities and have them put on the Council record.
‘Firstly, I want to put on record that I have examined the ‘Summary of Issues’ that were submitted to the CEO last July and I see a number of alleged irregularities with the assembly of the Government site at Anne Street, Wexford, which need to be addressed by this Council.
‘In the summary of issues submitted to the Council it is alleged that the dismantling of the title to property was done without the knowledge of the property owners.
‘Again, in the summary of issues it is alleged that the highly irregular purchase of the old County Hotel hotel caused a significant loss of space to the decentralised Revenue office.
‘Further in the summary of issues it was alleged that Wexford Borough Council never sought to have the planning amended to reflect the revised layout.’
Mr Power also confirmed he had recently met with senior officials from the OPW, with Deputy Mick Barry and former Deputy Joe Higgins in Leinster House to advance the investigations being carried out independently by the Chief State Solicitor’s Office and the OPW.
And Mr Power said he was ‘very surprised’ Wexford County Council are ignoring the new facts presented to the CEO, Tom Enright, last July and are continuing to refuse to amend the report they issued in October 2016.
