Nster Junior final with runaway win

-

lead swelled to 2-6 to 0-2 by the 18th minute. Both clubs managed to raise the white flag four more times before the break but it was the green one secured by Ballygarrett that left Cullion in a hole.,

This time it was a long ball by Colm Kennelly that caught the home defence napping, as it broke to Eoin Corcoran on the run and he made no mistake. With the points of Sinnott, plus Killian and John Doyle thrown-in, Ballygarrett led by 3-10 to 0-6 at half-time.

If a quick start was the idea for Cullion, it didn’t materialise. John Doyle almost added a fourth goal for the Wexford Intermediate ‘A’ champions but Gillen repelled his effort.

Hobbs was unerring from dead-balls and the hosts’ indiscipline ensured he had plenty.

Regan did drill home from Jack Galvin’s pass in the 45th minute, but it was a fleeting moment of joy for the Westmeath side.

The final nail in their coffin was delivered by Pat Naughter whose run ended with a scooped shot. It might have been a point attempt but it really didn’t matter as it airmailed Gillen and finished in the net.

Ballygarrett kept taking their points after that. Killian Doyle got a nice one, Hobbs brought his tally to eleven, Brendan Corcoran casually sauntered forward to get his score, and Cormac Moore-Kavanagh rounded out the afternoon in style.

The job ahead of Ballygarrett is a difficult one, as they face Conahy Shamrocks of Kilkenny in the title decider looking to become the third Wexford club, after Askamore (2000) and Fethard (2017) to take this title.

The Kilkenny champions have won eleven of the last 13 Junior crowns so the task is stiff, but another performance like this might just do the trick.
