Ross Town back in contention for crown

THE BIG match in the Under-14 Premier Division saw New Ross Town overcome Curracloe United 2-0 to move back into contention for the title.

In a game between two very competitiv­e sides, Ciara Nolan scored midway through the first-half to give Town the lead, and Aoife Kielthy wrapped up the three points with a goal one minute from time.

All Blacks made the long journey to Aughrim Rangers and came away with their first three points after a 4-0 win in a game that was much closer than the scoreline suggests.

Two goals from Aoibheann Rankin and one each from Ciara Murphy and Sinéad Cullen secured victory for the visitors.

In Division 1, Bridge Rovers travelled to Courtown and overcame the home side 8-0 with goals from Aoife Doran (three), Kaitlin Conroy (two), Sofia Kotun (two) and Courtney Goucher.

An Emily Roban goal gave Ballindagg­in victory as they travelled to Gorey Rangers and came away 1-0 winners, while Adamstown made it two wins from two as they overcame Bunclody 4-1.

Sarah Roche was on target for Bunclody, but two goals for Ella Fitzpatric­k and one each from Megan Martin and Eilis Roche gave the home side the win.

Division 2A saw Bree move top of the table when they travelled to New Ross Town and came away 2-1 winners.

Aoife O’Leary was on target for Town, but two goals from Abbie Doyle saw Bree come away well-deserved winners.

St. Joseph’s also kept in touch with the leaders as they overcame Forth Celtic 6-1 in Kilmuckrid­ge.

Lauren Gregg was on target for Forth, but two goals from Sasha Odanza and one each from Milly Lotz, Natalie Stepien, Ebony Harris-Burke and Róisín O’Meara gave the home side victory.

Division 2B saw Coolboy Rangers and Tombrack United both record their third wins of the season to sit joint top of the table.

Two goals from Aimee McDonald saw Coolboy overcome Fastnet 2-0.

Meanwhile, goals from Ana Dragusan (four), Anna Tomkins (two), Megan Hayes (two) and Ciara Kenny saw Tombrack defeat New Ross Celtic 9-0.

An Ava Bennett hat-trick saw Corach travel to Enniscorth­y United and win 3-1, with Leah Shannon on target for the home side.

Curracloe United’s second team are top of Division 3 after a comfortabl­e win over new team Shamrock Rovers. Cassie O’Rourke scored for Rovers, but goals from Naomi Breen-Denton (three), Niamh White (three), Molly O’Brien, Elana Doherty and an own goal saw Curracloe make it three wins from three games.

St. Leonards sit just three points behind them as they overcame a young Ferns side 2-0 thanks to two Ciara Whelan goals, while Kilmore United picked up their first three points of the season as they overcame near neighbours All Blacks 4-1.

In Under-18 North, Moyne Rangers and Arklow Town played out a thrilling 4-4 draw where both sides had to come from behind.

Arklow led 2-0 but Moyne came back to lead 4-2 before Arklow scored two more to bring the sides level.

Liadan Kavanagh (three) and Holly Jenkinson were on target for Arklow, while Katie Bates (two), Miria O’Dowd and Katie Sherlock replied for Moyne, with Shauna Redmond producing a player of the match performanc­e as goal provider.

In the South section, Seaview made it three wins from three as they overcame Bree 4-0 with goals from Jamie Walsh (two), Eadaoin Kent and Erin Foley-Saunders.

North End picked up their first points of the season as they beat Curracloe United 2-1 in a tough, competitiv­e encounter, with Nicole Gillen on target for Curracloe while Matilda Meaney’s two goals gave North End victory.
