Rosslare best in battle of the Rangers

O’Neill’s Sports Leinster Youth Cup

Rosslare Rangers got the better of Gorey Rangers after extra-time in a thrilling O’Neill’s Sports Leinster Youth Cup first round tie on Saturday.

Cian Byrne, Leigh Newport and Dan Power hit the back of the net for the Rosslare side, while Eoin Murphy replied with two penalties.

Elsewhere, St. Joseph’s bowed out after losing 3-1 to Freebooter­s.

Youths Premier Division

North End United moved level with Campile United at the top of the Youths Premier Division after overcoming their rivals 3-1 on Saturday.

John Hore, Joey Jackson and Aaron Roche scored for the Sky Blues, with Matt Foley hitting the back of the net for Campile.

Cloughbawn got their first win on the board with a 3-1 win away to New Ross Celtic.

Mick McGrath, Darragh Furlong and Aaron Smyth got the goals for the winners, while Jonas Graze scored for Celtic.

MMI Group Youth Division 1

Forth Celtic fought back from 3-1 down with 20 minutes remaining to earn a 3-3 draw with Kilmore United and keep their unbeaten start to the season in the MMI Group Youths Division 1 intact.

Aodhán Collins, Liam Donohue and Callum Gondard scored for the Murrintown side, while Brad Koolhof, Aaron Busher and Jude Bates hit the back of the net for Kilmore.

Bill Peare and Danny Breen (two) got the goals for Enniscorth­y Town in their 3-1 win over Wexford Celtic, while a Ben Cullen goal was enough for Curracloe United to see off St. Leonards.

Aaron Kinsella and Corey Lawlor scored for Bridge Rovers as they edged out Glynn Barntown 2-1.

Youths Division 2

Jamie O’Rourke netted a hat-trick for Youths Division 2 high-flyers Shelburne United on Saturday as they made it six wins from six by overcoming St. Cormac’s 4-1.

Cian Kennedy got their other goal, while Ronan O’Leary replied for the saints.

Ballymurn Celtic ran out comfortabl­e 5-0 winners over Camolin Celtic, with goals from Cathal Roche, Conor King, Seán Walsh (two) and Joe Kelly.

Gorey Celtic moved into third place thanks to a 2-0 win in Ferns, with Shane Mahon and Darragh Flanagan getting their goals, while Tombrack United won 6-0 away to Shamrock Rovers.

Harry Fitzgibbon netted a double, while Josh McMullan, Jack White, Thomas Jeffers and David Power scored a goal apiece.

Youths Division 3

Duncannon made in six wins from six in Youths Division 3 in style as they comprehens­ively overcame Taghmon United 7-0 on Saturday.

Callum Gamble, Colm Fitzgerald and Tomás Barron all scored doubles for the seasiders, with Alfie Eite also getting in on the act.

Finn Bennett and Rory O’Brien got the goals for Fastnet Rovers as they saw off Wexford Celtic 2-0, while Wexford Bohs overcame Adamstown 3-0, with Luke Byrne, Dylan Sinnott and Dylan O’Connor all hitting the back of the net.

New Ross Town proved too good for Corach Ramblers, winning 5-2 thanks to a hat-trick from Craig Delaney and singles from Cathal Mooney and Cillian Thomas.
