Little stars hoping for ‘Toy Show’ dream

-

WHILE everyone loves ‘The Late Late Toy Show’, a gang of kids from Wexford are hoping to be part of the magic themselves after making the journey to RTÉ last week to audition for the show.

Members of The Superstars Stage Academy, with their mentor Sharon Clancy, travelled to Dublin to perform in front of the cameras for the show’s producers, something which caused great excitement. Auditioning on the day were the Twinkle Stars from Kilrane/Rosslare Harbour and Ciara Doherty, who is one of the group’s Senior Superstars from Wexford.

Having made it through the first part of the process and being selected for the auditions, the kids already felt like winners as they explored the home of TV in Ireland.

‘We had a bus full of kids and supportive parents,’ said Academy director Sharon Clancy. ‘The excitement was amazing and all the kids did an amazing job. Having been spotted by ‘The Late Late Toy Show’ Wrapped production team when we arrived in Dublin, the kids were filmed entering the RTÉ studios and practicing their songs and then followed into the auditions by the cameras.’

Aged four to six and dressed as Santa’s little elves, the group won the cuteness factor hands down as they performed ‘Shotgun’ and ‘We Run the Show’. Ciara Doherty is no stranger to the RTÉ studios and was asked to sing Beyoncé’s ‘Spirit’ from the new ‘Lion King’ movie. A talented singer, actress and dancer, she seemed to impress the judges and is now anxiously awaiting word, as are the group.

Regardless though, it was a great day out and a great experience for all of the young performers and they really did themselves proud.
