GAA CLUB NEWS

The highlight of the week and possibly the year was our under-15 footballers winning their shield final against St James.

This team won this shield competition the hard way. In the first round they had to travel to Buffers Alley and came away with victory by a point. In the semi-final they traveled to and defeated a much fancied Gusserane side in what can only be described as the worst wind and rain you could imagine.

They took on St James in the final and served up a goal feast. Both side played some great football with the lead changing hand s on many occasions. But this team would not give in and eventually came away with a five point win. This team and their mentors deserve great credit for the effort and courage they showed all year. A long year well done all.

Davidstown-Courtnacuddy GAA will be holding its AGM on November 22 in Davidstown community centre, starting at 7.30 p.m. with the Coiste na nÓg AGM, then being followed by the adult AGM. It Would be great to see all past and present members there. New members are always welcome.

Our annual underage awards night is on November 24 in Davidstown community centre at 5 p.m. We are delighted to say that we will be joined by the camogie and ladies’ football club on the night and they will be also presenting their winning teams with there medals etc after a very successful year.
