LIAM MELLOWS COMMEMORAT­ION

The annual Liam Mellows Commemorat­ion in Castletown takes place on Sunday, December 8, Commencing with Mass at 11 a.m. in St Patrick’s Church, Castletown. Following on with the Colour Party leading on to the adjoining Cemetery.

The event is chaired by Lorcan Allen and prayers will be said by the parish priest while oration will be delivered by Senator Mark Daly. The event is followed by light refreshmen­ts in the Golden Anchor, Castletown.

VINTAGE PRESENTATI­ON

On last Friday night, Coolgreany Vintage Club and the Gap Vintage Club joined forces at the Gap Pub to present a cheque for €3,000 to the Kinsella Family Ballythoma­s, which was the proceeds of a Joint Car and Tractor Run which was held around the roads of the Local Area on Sunday, October 27. This run was an outstandin­g success and raised €3,000 which was handed over to the Kinsella Family to help a member of that family, who is seriously ill, Dan Kennedy and Mick Darcy represente­d both clubs and the jointly said it was a privilege to be able to help a very worthy cause from the proceeds the Car/Tractor Run.
