Rangers beat New Oak Boys in FAI Junior Cup

Gorey Rangers booked their place in the sixth round of the FAI Junior Cup with a hard-fought win over New Oak Boys on Sunday.

The Carlow side knocked out North End United in the previous round, but Rangers ensured they didn’t take a second Wexford scalp, with Adam Territ scoring the only goal of the game

Meanwhile, in the fourth round Rosslare Rangers came from behind to see off Bridge United after extra-time.

A Mark Furlong goal was cancelled out by the visitors to force extra-time and they then took the lead, before Lee Devereux and Jason Pettit hit the back of the net to see the seasiders through.

Ajax Athletic ensured their journey to face Leinster Senior League side Loughshinn­y United in the LFA Junior Shield was a fruitful one as they ran out 2-0 winners in Dublin.

Liam Moore and Fenwick O’Shea got the goals for the Enniscorth­y outfit.

Elsewhere, Shelburne United were emphatic 7-1 winners against Ballymurn Celtic, with Chris Connick,

Ciarán O’Connor and Brian Minogue all netting doubles, and Pádraig Lynch also getting in on the act.

Shamrock Rovers moved level with North End United at the top of the Premier Division table after overcoming Courtown Hibs 3-1 on Sunday.

Ricky Fox bagged a double for the Enniscorth­y side, with Emmet Quirke also hitting the back of the net and Colin O’Brien replying for Hibs.

Moyne Rangers came out on top 3-2 against Campile United, with James Peare and Graham Donohoe scoring for the champions, and P.J. Banville and Johnny Keating replying.

Forth Celtic got another three points on the board thanks to a 2-0 away win over Wexford Bohs.

Moyne Rangers moved up to second spot in Division 1 after overcoming Bridge Rovers in a seven-goal thriller on Sunday.

Liam Evans netted a double for the Enniscorth­y side, while Cian Hanley and Dayle Donohoe added a goal apiece and Kevin Murphy (two) and Paddy O’Reilly replied for Rovers.

New Ross Celtic saw off Glynn Barntown 2-1 with goals from Neil Dunne and Kean Walsh, with Davo Miller hitting the back of the net in reply.

Ian White helped himself to a double as Adamstown edged out Corach Ramblers 3-2. Conor Hickey got the other goal for the winners, with Niall Harney and Aaron Diskin scoring for Ramblers.

Tombrack United hit New Ross Town for six goals without reply, with Eoghan Murphy grabbing a hat-trick and Niall Maher, James Coleman and Jamie Walshe chipping in with a goal apiece.
