TUESDAY, DECEMBER 10 ‘SOUTH PACIFIC’ SCHOOL MUSICAL

St Peter’s College and Loreto Secondary School are teaming up for a joint production of the musical ‘South Pacific’ in the National Opera House, Wexford at 7.30 p.m. Tickets are €20 or concessions: €10 (students and OAPs) and are on sale directly from the National Opera House. CHRISTMAS CAROLS

The New Ross Singers choir will be singing Christmas carols and more in New Ross Library from 7 to 8 p. m. Admission is free and mulled wine and mince pies will be served.

SANTA’S NORTH POLE EXPERIENCE

Enter the magical and captivating world of the North Pole during Santa’s North Pole Experience, which will be on Wexford Quay this Christmas as part of Wexford Winterland.

With the Experience taking up to 30 minutes to complete, firstly, children and families will meet Ellie the Elf who will lead you into the Magic Forest. There will be snow-covered Christmas trees glistening in the light of the moon and the glow of a Victorian lamp to guide you along the path. Then, the Enchanted Gates will lead people into the Elves’ Village where children can post their letters in Santa’s official post box. Children will also visit the Elves’ Workshop – normally top secret – but this special visit allows you to enter and meet the Grand High Elf, who is 2,000 years old.

Patch the Elf will then bring families, individually, to meet and receive a gift from Santa Claus. During the visit, there will be plenty of opportunities for people to take photos, plus there will also be a photographer there, taking photos you can purchase.

The cost of entry varies: children aged 3-12: €17; toddlers aged 1 – 2: € 8.50; children under 12 months: free; adults: €8.50. Children and toddler tickets include a gift from Santa Claus. Under 12 months tickets do not include a gift. You can book a toddler ticket for a baby if you wish.

ENNISCORTHY & DISTRICT CHAMBER BLACK-TIE BALL

Enniscorthy & District Chamber will be holding its first ever black-tie ball in the Riverside Park Hotel. All chamber members are invited to attend and tickets, priced €75, are now available from the chamber office on 053 9232006.

CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR

Having officially been launched on Saturday, the Wexford Arts Centre Christmas Craft Fair continues with a whole host of festive crafts from across the county on display in the pillar room. Exhibitors include Patricia Howard, Mairead Stafford, Terry Dunne, Martin Doyle, Tess Reynolds, Rebecca Homfray, Mairead Carbre, Mary Gallagher, Annette Whelan, Bianca Divito and John Dunn. The Gallery opening times are Monday - Friday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Wexford on Ice will take place on the Quay in Wexford Town right up until January 5.

Stability aids are available for first-time skaters and there is a dedicated kiddie rink and kiddie skates for the little ones. There will also be sensory friendly and wheelchair family skate sessions on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 10.a.m. (These sensory friendly sessions will be free, with the organisers just asking for a donation to a charity on the day).

The cost is €11 - €48 (prices vary at off-peak times and for family bookings). Off-peak adult – €13; offpeak child (12 years and under) – €11; off-peak family of 3 – €34; off-peak family of 4 – €40. Off-peak dates are Monday to Friday from December 3 to December 20. On-peak adult – €15; onpeak child (12 years and under) – €13; on-peak family of 3 – €40; on-peak family of 4 – €48. On-peak dates are Saturday and Sundays from November 24 to December 16 and daily from Friday, December 21 to January 6.

On Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, the last skate is from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wexford on Ice will be closed on Christmas Day.

CHRISTMAS CAROLS

THE VILLAGE AT WHEELOCK’S CHRISTMAS EXPERIENCE

Children will be greeted by the Snow Queen who will guide you to the mystical train and the journey will begin. Travelling through the winter woods, the Santa train will transport you to the magical Christmas tunnel. Here you will visit the post office and meet the hard-working elves in their workshop. Then, for the main event, meet Santa Claus and tell him your Christmas wishes and receive your gift. After all that, arrive back to where Mrs Claus is serving complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate and homemade mince pies. Relax and enjoy the indoor Christmas Arcade. THURSDAY, DECEMBER 12 EVENING OF POETRY AND MUSIC

The Wexford branch of Amnesty International is hosting an evening of poetry and music in the Starview Café, National Opera House from 6 to 9 p.m. This is to mark International Human Rights’ Day (December 10).

Food and light refreshments will be served, and among the attendees will be Pat Collins. He will read work by his late brother, Dennis. We will be selling Christmas merchandise, including cards and calendars, and there will be an opportunity to participate in the Write for Rights campaign.

PETER’S COLLEGE PAST PUPILS UNION CHRISTMAS CAROL CONCERT.

This event takes place at 8 p.m. in Rowe Street Church, Wexford, with performers including Michael Darcy of Corner Boy, Trish Gallagher and St. Peter’s College Choir. Money raised will go towards the development of an astro playing pitch in the college and also Wexford MarineWatch.

SOCIAL DANCING

Come along to Kilanerin Parish Hall at 9 p.m. as Limelite are back by popular demand. All money raised on the night will go towards Gorey Musical Society.

EVENING OF SONG AND MUSIC

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 14 CHRISTMAS CONCERT

The Loch Garman Band will host a special concert of best-loved Christmas carols and seasonal tunes at St Iberius Church in Wexford at 8 p.m. This special evening will be hosted and narrated by Canon Arthur Minion and will also feature performances from the Youth Band. It looks set to be a magical evening and will put you right in the festive mood. A large Christmas tree has been installed in the church and the lights will be switched on before the concert. No tickets required but a collection will be held in aid of the band.

CHRISTMAS BAKING WITH MRS CLAUS AT WEXFORD LAVENDER FARM

Children will delight in making and decorating two Christmas cookies with help from master baker Mrs Claus and her cheeky Elf helpers. Classes will be hands-on, small and personal. A VILLAGE CHRISTMAS

Everyone is invited to Ballywilliam as it becomes immersed in Christmas spirit from 2 p.m. till 6 p.m. Visit the area’s first ever ‘Live Crib’. Meet Santa and Mrs Claus and send your letters via our North Pole express post box. The Elves will be on hand for some kids’ art activities. Local crafts and Christmas trees will be on sale. Enjoy some carol singing with local choirs while you enjoy some refreshments, including mulled wine, mince pies, hot chocolate and kids’ treats. Donations greatly appreciated.

CHRISTMAS COFFEE MORNING AND CAKE SALE

Ard Aoibhinn’s Christmas Coffee Morning and Cake Sale will take place from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. in Clonard Community Centre.

CHRISTMAS MONSTER BINGO

St Joseph’s Community Centre, Wexford will hold a Christmas Monster Bingo event, starting at 3 p.m. Doors will open at 1 p.m. There will be all cash prizes and Santa will arrive on the day.

CHRISTKINDL MARKET

We are holding a German-style Christmas Market in Murrintown Community Centre from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. You can stroll around the craft stalls, shop for some last-minute presents or sit down and enjoy a freshly baked waffle or mulled wine. Santa is visiting at 3 p.m. and there will be arts and crafts to keep the little ones happy too.

All proceeds go to the Lochlann Doyle Fund. Lochlann has acquired a brain injury after a near drowning incident in 2010 and the funds are used to help with his ongoing recovery.

A great show is promised at the Ashdown Park Hotel as Phil Coulter takes to the stage. Doors will open at 7.30 p.m., with music starting at 8.30 p.m.

CAROLS AT GOREY METHODIST CHURCH

All are invited to Gorey Methodist Church for carols by candlelight at 7.30 p.m. and refreshments will be served in our church hall afterwards.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 18

Gorey Choral Group will host its annual Christmas concert in The Ashdown Park Hotel on Wednesday, December 18. Enjoy a soiree of festive classics featuring Clare Kavanagh, soprano, commencing with a mulled wine reception at 7.30 p.m.

Concert doors open at 7.50 p.m. and finger food will be served at the interval. Tickets are €15 and are available in Wade’s Pharmacy and Whitmore Jewellers, Main Street, Gorey, the Ashdown Park Hotel, directly from choir members or on the door and are subject to capacity.
