COMMUNITY ALERT

As the winter long nights have drawn in, the committee of the above are appealing to everyone in our community to be on the lookout for their neighbours, especially all those of our senior citizens who may need a helping hand to go shopping or may need some firewood etc to keep warm on those cold nights which are now with us. Please be on the lookout.

OLD KILNENOR HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Our AGM will take place on Thursday, December 12, at 8 p.m. upstairs in May Byrne Trust House in Coolgreany, please use the side entrance.

COOLGREANY VINTAGE CLUB

A meeting of the club will be held in the May Byrne House (upstairs-side door) on next Wednesday night, December 11, at 8.30 p.m. New members welcome, and membership fee is due on the night.

SHEEP KILL

A large number of sheep were killed, and more number were seriously mauled in the Ballykilty recently, because of a dog attack, unfortunat­ely for the owner, no one seems to have seen or heard anything, If anyone is aware of or seen anything he owner is appealing to people to call the Gardaí in Gorey or Arklow.

COOLGREANY INN

The local community extend their good wishes to Alan Flood, who has leased and reopened the Coolgreany Inn since Sunday, November 24. He is wished every success and will operate in the same way as the previous owners did before.

BIRTHDAY WISHES

Congratula­tions and birthday wishes to Lucy Foley, Ballylarki­n, who will celebrate her 11th birthday on Wednesday, December 11, and hope you have a lovely birthday.

UNDERAGE GAA COACHING

Underage GAA coaching for beginners to senior infants boys is on Tuesday nights at 6 p.m. to 6.45 p.m. in the Ballygarre­tt GAA hall.

All boys are welcome where they will be coached in a fun and enjoyable way on the skills of Gaelic games that helps to develop the health and social wellbeing of the child, and parents are asked to remain for duration of the session.

The youths skills and conditioni­ng training also takes place on Tuesdays from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and is open to all boys’ under-13, under-15 and under-17 teams. Activities will help youth players to prepare for the demands of Gaelic games.

Self Defence Classes – These classes are for boys and girls who need to protect themselves takes place every Tuesday evenings from 6 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. Should you wish to know about these classes please phone Dave at 087 6344710 who will give you further informatio­n about these vital classes.

Line Dancing – These classes take place on Tuesdays evenings from 8.30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Should you wish to join please phone Geraldine at 086 3958667.

Tae Kwon Do – These classes take place every Wednesday and Fridays from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. also 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. Should you wish to join these classes phone Tom at 086 3862020 who will give you further informatio­n.

Whist drive – This takes place every Thursday evening in the community centre from 8.30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Why not come along to learn how to play whist.
