SPECIAL CHILDREN’S PART IN THESE MASSES – At a recent Pastoral Council Meeting it was agreed that the children present at each of these Masses will have a special part to play. After Communion each of the children will bring a small ‘Heart’ token to the sanctuary and place it in the Crib, symbolising each one’s love for Baby Jesus. As each child leaves the Crib he/she will take a single straw from the Crib, bring it home and place it under his/her pillow to symbolise the Baby Jesus protects him/her always.

ENNISCORTHY CHOIRS – The pastoral council agreed also to invite the Enniscorthy Gospel Choir to come to Monageer in the spring to join in and sing at one of our Saturday Evening Masses. We will invite the Golf Club Choir to do the same on another occasion. Both Choirs have been here before and have enhanced our Liturgy significantly.

CHURCH 150TH ANNIVERSARY – The building of our local church began in April 1870 with the laying of the foundation stone. The completed church was dedicated by the Bishop Thomas Furlong on November 1, 1871. So, Monageer church will be 150 years in use on November 1, 2021, in two years time. It will be appropriate to celebrate this important parish anniversary. It is hoped that a book will be produced to mark the occasion and capture some of the history and contemporary developments in our parish. The 2013 volume Monageer Past and Present was very successful. We look forward to this anniversary, which is formally referred to as the sesqui-centenary of our church.
