GOREY C.S. FCJ BUNCLODY 3-18 0-12

GOREY COMMUNITY SCHOOL breezed past FCJ Bunclody to book their place in the Top Oil Post Primary School Senior ‘B’ hurling semi-final last week in Gorey.

The hosts never really looked in any trouble after a lightning fast start saw them rack up a tally of 3-8 in the first third of the game.

Indeed, Gorey’s confidence was clear from very early on. After Aodhan Whitty had opened their scoring in the fourth minute Jack Doran strode past the FCJ defence and finished low to kick-start Gorey’s period of dominance.

Two Cian Molloy frees separated Doran’s first and second major as the Gorey full-forward made a nuisance of himself again, side-stepping two defenders before burying another low finish into the net.

Molloy, JJ Twanley and Kyle Moore all increased Gorey’s advantage before Doran capped off a lucrative 20 minutes for both himself and his side – this time Molloy assisted him as he finished off his hat-trick from a tight angle.

Half-time couldn’t come quick enough for FCJ.

They managed three late scores through Tom Kinsella which made the score look a little less painful going into the second period (310 to 0-6).

The second half was more balanced as Gorey noticeably took their foot off the pedal.

Wexford FC starlet Darragh Levingston showed his hurling ability with Gorey’s opening point of the half while Seb Rynhart answered back almost immediately for Bunclody.

Molloy, Twanley and Cian Browne added further minors in the third quarter before Gorey began to unload their bench.

Kinsella’s free-taking impressed at the other end as he helped Bunclody to match their points tally from the first half.

After his trio of majors in the first half, Jack Doran was significantly quieter after the restart, although he was denied well by the impressive Derry Mahon in Bunclody’s net in the closing stages.

Joe Curtis added Gorey’s final score of the afternoon, securing their five-goal victory in the process and ensuring that all of their starting front eight had got their names on the score sheet.
