Rovers on top of the tree for Christmas

Shamrock Rovers maintained their threepoint advantage at the top of the Premier Division going into the Christmas break after seeing off Forth Celtic 4-1 on Sunday.

Seán Wildes, Emmett Quirke and Marty Kelly (two) got the goals for the Enniscorth­y outfit, with Ryan Busher replying for Forth.

Gorey Rangers continued their positive form with a 2-0 win over Cloughbawn. Adam Territ and Paul Brennan got the goals for the north county outfit.

Courtown Hibs make it five wins from their seven top flight outings when overcoming Campile United 3-1. Dylan Fleming, Wayne O’Reilly and Des Wolohan hit the back of the net for Hibs, while Johnny Keating got the goal for Campile.

North End ran out comfortabl­e 5-0 winners against Bunclody (see focus match).

Bridge Rovers secured their second three points of the season in some style as they netted a magnificen­t seven without reply against bottom side New Ross Town.

Kevin Murphy helped himself to a hattrick for the Castlebrid­ge men, while Jody Hynes chipped in with a double and Darragh Malone and Paul McClean added a goal apiece.

Elsewhere, New Ross Celtic and Tombrack United shared the spoils after a scoreless stalemate.

St. Leonards sit proudly on top of the Division 2 tree over the festive period after a 2-0 triumph over Rosslare Port on Sunday.

Seán ‘Mini’ Ryan and Shane Ryan got the goals for the saints.

Curracloe United are hot on their heels, however, after chalking up a 4-1 win over Crossabeg. Colin Cleary (two), Conor Hearne and Kyle Roche scored for the seasiders, with Davie Fenlon replying.

Shelburne United went on a scoring spree against bottom side Cushinstow­n on Sunday, running out 9-0 winners thanks to doubles from Eoin Kelly and Chris Connick and a goal apiece from Brian Lynch, Jack Murphy, Jack Fleming, Pádraig Lynch and Kevin Collins.

Wexford Bohs proved too strong for bottom side Ballymurn Celtic on Sunday, running out 7-3 winners thanks to an Aaron Lambert hat-trick, a Robbie O’Connor double and goals from Beau Brennan and

Shane Bergin.

Eoghan Kehoe (two) and Josh Whitehead hit the back of the net for Ballymurn.

Enniscorth­y United made it nine wins from nine in Division 4A to move within a point of leaders Wexford Bohs.

The Enniscorth­y side overcame Curracloe United 5-0 on Sunday, with Darren Walsh, James Redmond, Billy Millar, Jamie Fox and Jamie Foley all getting on the scoresheet.

Rosslare Rangers bowed out of the FAI Junior Cup at the fifth round stage when they lost 2-1 to Cashel Town on Sunday.

Gearoid Byrne got the goal for the Wexford side, while Cashel face a trip to take on Gorey Rangers in the next round.
