NEW ROSS SENIORS

The going was tough, mighty tough for the twelve teams who defied the weather last Thursday.

After the torrential rain of the night before and Thursday morning it was a wonder that we were able to play golf at all.

Here, tribute must be paid to Seamus Power and the course staff who after years of care and nourishment made the course playable in all weathers.

The conditions led one to believe that there would be low scoring, but once again these veterans defied the elements which thankfully stayed dry until the competition was completed.

There is always one team who put clear daylight between themselves and the opposition and last Thursday was no exception

Out in front and winning comfortably came the quartet of Denis Kirwan, Philip Walsh, Kenny Irwin and Mick Wade carding a great score of 104 points. Second with 99 points were Pat Traynor, Dan Quigley, Willie Wallace and Sean O hUginn whilst the thirdplace spot was filled by Mikey Lee, Patsy Farrell, Fr Jim Curtis and Martin Burke.

Nearest the pin prizes were won by Philip Walsh on the ninth hole and Michael Gannon on the 11th.

We have our last outing for 2019 next Thursday, December 19 and then we break until Thursday, January 9, 2020. All players please be in house before 10.30 a.m. for the draw for teams at 10.40 a.m..
