Sheridan’s latest work explores his home of Gorey

-

ARTIST Michael Sheridan presents his ‘My Town’ exhibition which will be at the Market House from Thursday, December 19, at 7.30 p.m. and then runs at same venue from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. daily up until Christmas Eve.

Michael Sheridan from Gorey is a contemporary figurative artist who explores creativity, particularly the art of drawing and making marks through different materials and mediums to create a unique image.

His latest ‘My Town’ exhibition pays homage to his hometown of Gorey and the colourful work is distinctive in its clean lines, to express both the vibrant spirit and atmosphere of the delightful buildings.

Picturesque structures are all brought to life with contrasting and harmonious colours and bold compositions and bring in themes of memory, childhood and remarkable landscapes.

‘Throughout my life I have always been fascinated by images and how the world is represented through the eyes of others. Naturally, then, I was drawn to a career in art, and further developed it by a formal education with a diploma in graphic design and a bachelor’s degree in art,’ he said.

‘I am a storyteller and I welcome you to join me on this visual journey.’

Sheridan’s art has been exhibited in the Royal Hibernian Academy, and one of his paintings is now featured in the Garda Headquarters in Phoenix Park Dublin.

Next for Sheridan is a show he is currently working on called ‘Icons’, which will be presented in the first half of next year.

All are invited to the exhibition launch on Thursday, December 19, and he will have mounted prints available to purchase.
