SCHOOL REUNION

Ballycanew National School is celebratin­g 50years of the opening of its doors on its current site this year. There will be a celebrator­y evening of reunion on Saturday, December 28, at 7 p.m. in the school. Mass of Thanksgivi­ng celebratin­g 50years in St Moling’s Church at 6 p.m. Past pupils, currents pupils and the community are invited to join the celebratio­ns. We would like any old photograph­s and stories from any time over the last 50years, these can be emailed to secretary@ballycanew­ns.ie or dropped to the school office. These will be returned to you. Please spread the word. It promises to be a night of reminiscin­g and catching up with old school mates. Refreshmen­ts on the night.

BUY A BULB FOR OUR REMEMBRANC­E TREE.

Ballycanew National School will be lighting up their school this year with a large outdoor Christmas Tree. Buy a bulb and light up thier Christmas Tree and remember a loved one who is not by your side this Christmas. Write a personal message on the cards provided and it will then be hung on the tree beside a Christmas tree light bulb and it will shine bright rememberin­g your loved one. Bulbs are €5 and can be got from the school office, Tina’s Hair Salon, Brooks, Day Break. All proceeds to Ballycanew NS Fundraisin­g Appeal.

THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS CONCERT.

Internatio­nally acclaimed soprano Deirdre Masterson and friends presents the ‘The Spirit of Christmas’ on Friday, December 20, in St Michael’s Church, Gorey. Special guests performanc­es on the night from the Irish College of Music Theatre and Ballycanew NS Choir. Mulled wine reception from 6.30 p.m. with concert starting at 7.30 p.m. Tickets €20, concession­s available. Tickets available from school office, Gorey parish office, The Wine Buff and online with Eventbrite. All proceeds will go to Ballycanew NS Fundraisin­g Appeal.

SPLIT-THE-POT

Congratula­tions to the Saturday night, December 7, winner, - L, B,A, J,P, A,J (Syndicate) – prize money was €254. Congratula­tions to Peter Kavanagh (€25 Percivals), Stephen Kirwan (€25 Sizzles) and Dwayne Blake (€25 Glanbia). Thanks to everyone for their continue support.

Ballycanew Resource Center will host the following teen club is on this week open for teens in the area from secondary school 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Open mornings for tea and coffee from 9.11 a.m. Community office open if anyone has printing or computer needs from 9 a.m. to midnight

Enrollment now being taken for September 2019 for Ballyought­er National School. Expression of interest forms also available for September 2020 intake. If you would like to enroll your child for the coming year or put your name on file for September 2020 contact the office at 053 938200 Tuesday – Thursday 9.15-1.30 or leave a message any day and an enrollment form or expression of interest form will be issued to you. If you are new to the area or deciding about schools and want to pop in to meet us or see the school just let us know.

Gorey Bus Links New Timetable

Gorey bus links timetable, six days a week. Outbound Monday to Saturday Ballycanew Roundabout 9.23 a.m., Return Ballycanew Roundabout 1.48 p.m. and 5.48 p.m., Free Travel Pass accepted and Single Fare €5.
