Curracloe go six clear at head of Under-14 table

CURRACLOE UNITED moved six points clear at the top of the Under-14 Premier division when overcoming New Ross Town 5-0 on Saturday, coupled with a 4-1 win at home to Aughrim Rangers before Christmas.

In the win over Aughrim, Emma Cullen scored twice for the winners with Grace Donohoe and Cliona Kearney also on target, while Sarah Doyle found the net for the visitors.

On Saturday, Emma Cullen was again the scorer in chief as she grabbed four, while Zara Corrigan addd the other goal to give Curracloe their fifth win of the season.

Bridge Rovers moved to the top of Division 1 with a clinical 5-0 win over a hard-working Bunclody side, with Sofia Kotun scoring a hat-trick to add to goals from Courtney Goucher and Layla Stafford.

Ballindagg­in moved second as they proved too strong for a young Courtown Hibs side and ran out comfortabl­e 7-2 winners to give them their third win of the season.

Izzy Kenna scored twice for Hibs, while Jodi Pender and Libby Nolan netted two each for Ballindagg­in to add to goals from Emily Roban, Kaylee Doyle and Róisín Dwyer.

Gorey Rangers recorded their first win of the season and caused a minor upset when overcoming Adamstown 3-2 in Ramstown.

Eabha Martin scored the two goals for the visitors, but Róisín Redmond, Megan Martin and Caoimhe Breen were all on target to give Rangers the three points.

Shelburne continue to lead the way in Under-14 Division 2A as they proved too strong for New Ross Town’s second string and ran out 6-0 winners to make it four wins from four and open a three-point gap at the top of the table.

Milly Sutton scored two, with Leah Byrne, Neala Barron, Nicole Colfer and Keelin Barron all adding one each.

Forth Celtic and St. Joseph’s played out an exciting 2-2 draw, with Anna Gallagher and Jenna Ryan scoring for Celtic while Millie Lotts and Ebony Harris-Burke replied for the saints.

In Division 2B, Coolboy Rangers joined Tombrack at the top of the table when coming away from a rapidly improving Enniscorth­y United with all three points.

Anna Cavanagh and Ruby Kelly scored for United, but two goals from Rachel Tighe and one each from Aimee McDonald, Ella Ford and Jessie Martin saw Coolboy win 5-2.

Corach made the long journey to Tombrack a worthwhile one as they inflicted the first defeat of the season on the home side, with Sarah Bennett scoring the only goal of a very tight game.

Mia Murphy was on target for New Ross Celtic away to Cushinstow­n, but it was not enough as goals from Peig Waters and Grace Walsh gave the home side victory.

Curracloe’s second team lead the way in Under-14 Division 3 as they made it five wins from five with a 4-0 win over Ferns United. Ciara Whelan, Zara Whelan, Molly O’Brien and Emer Brennan all got their names on the scoresheet.

All Blacks’ second team picked up three points as they overcame St. Leonards 4-1, with Katie Whelan on target for the saints, but two goals from Ava Wallace and one each from Saoirse Crosbie and Jess Cloney gave All Blacks victory.

In the Under-18 qualifying group, North End United recorded an important victory when travelling to Seaview and coming away 5-2 winners.

Jennah Molloy and Ava White-Keating were on target for the home side, while a Katie Law hat-trick and a goal each from Lydia McGrath and Aoife Houghton accounted for North End’s tally.

The other game in the group saw Forth Celtic and St. Leonards play out an exciting scoreless draw to keep them both in contention for a place in the Premier division.
