NEW ROSS

Our Captains, Seán and Pat, and our Presidents, Brian and Lillian, want to wish all members of New Ross Golf Club, their families, the committees, and all the staff, the very best for 2020. We hope it proves to be an enjoyable and a successful year.

It has been great to see so many golfers out enjoying the course recently.

The Christmas Classic was very popular and it was great to see so many golfers playing in groups they ordinarily might not have joined.

It’s a fantastic way to get to know your fellow members while playing competitive golf.

The course remains in good condition, especially for this time of year. I would again ask that golfers have the decency to repair pitch marks and rake bunkers out of respect for your course, course staff, and fellow golfers.

I would ask that you remind playing partners of this if they demonstrate a lack of basic etiquette.

The new year got off to a great start for the club, with the Christmas Classic proving even more popular than before.

A total of 166 teams entered, and some fine scoring was seen over the course of the competition.

Thanks to everyone who took part, and congratulations to the winning teams.

Last weekend we had a 16-hole stableford competition which was sponsored by New Ross Credit Union. The wind on Sunday made for a challenging prospect, but once again the underfoot conditions were very good. A total of 130 played.
