Firemen show support for baby Tilly’s family

- By BRENDAN KEANE

THE parents of a baby girl who sadly passed away just before Christmas have said their faith in humanity was restored by the level of support they received from members of the public in Enniscorthy and the surrounding areas.

Tilly Brennan, from Clondaw, Ferns, was just eight-and-a-half months old when she passed away in December, as a result of a condition called AVSD.

Tilly captured the hearts and minds of people all over the Enniscorthy district and fundraising events in support of her were very well supported by members of the public.

Members of Enniscorthy Fire Service carried out a fundraising drive which raised €3,875 and that money was presented to Tilly’s father, Darren Brennan.

Speaking to this newspaper he said he and Tilly’s mother, Linda O’Brien, were very grateful for all of the support they received from people in Enniscorthy.

‘They restored my faith in humanity to be honest,’ Darren told this newspaper.

Expressing sincere gratitude to the firefighters and everyone else who offered support to himself and Linda in the wake of their daughter’s passing he said: ‘There are some really good people out there and it’s at times like this that you see that.’

The couple plan to give money to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin in appreciation of the care the staff there afforded Tilly during her illness.

The money was presented to Darren by members of the fire service in the Enniscorthy station.
