WWETB continues to grow and adapt to the needs of its community, offering a path to learning for all

-

WATERFORD and Wexford Education and Training Board (WWETB) is the largest education and training provider in the South East and offers an extensive range of exciting courses and services to over 22,000 children, young people and adults across Waterford and Wexford. Its learner-focussed, inclusive approach supports students and learners to continually progress their education, to further their careers and to grow within their communities.

WWETB was delighted to open its first Community National School in Kilnamanagh, Wexford in September 2019. This is the first primary school of its kind in Wexford, a progressive model of equality-based primary education which demonstrates WWETB’s approach to inclusive, high quality education that meets the needs of the entire community.

WWETB is patron of 12 co-educational, multi-denominational post primary schools across Waterford and Wexford that are committed to the delivery of high-quality education with a focus on student wellbeing and inclusivity. WWETB supports its post-primary learners in many ways within each school and offers Leaving Certificate, Junior Certificate and PLC educational programmes.

WWETB is one of the largest providers of Further Education and Training (FET) Courses in the country. FET provision is spread across a myriad of different programmes through c. 2,400 individual full and part-time courses, delivered across 24 centres across Waterford and Wexford. Courses include Apprenticeships, Skills training and all aspects of Community and Adult education. Courses are designed to prepare learners for employment in modern workplaces and progression to further and higher education and are built on strong links with local employers.

WWETB is supported by Wexford County Council in delivering an exciting programme of music education and performance to children and young people aged 0-18 years through Music Generation Wexford. WWETB’s aim is to ensure that every child and young person in Wexford has access to high quality performance music education in their locality, the results of which can be truly transformational for each child.

WWETB is also delighted to be partnering with the GAA on an innovative wellbeing programme for young people in 2nd level schools, Youthreach and Local Training Initiatives (LTIs).

An important part of WWETB’s remit is the delivery of youth services. In Wexford, this includes 4 YouthReach centres and the YouthTrain community training centre. This provision also supports a wide variety of services provided by partner voluntary youth organisations through programmes such as the targeted youth funding scheme for projects (known as UBU, Your Place your Space), local voluntary youth grant and capital schemes.

With its team of 1,600 staff WWETB successfully delivers comprehensive services to its learners and communities. It places learning and the learner at the heart of everything it does, and believes that there is a path to learning for all.
