Inaugural Gorey Business Awards

-

THE inaugural Gorey Business and Endeavour Awards is set to take place on Friday, January 31 at the Ashdown Park Hotel with festivities beginning from 6 p.m. for an evening which promises key note speeches, dinner and music until late.

Behind the event are Philip Cullen from Southeast Financial Services and Dave Howick from FHM Accountants based at Gorey’s Hatch Lab, and together they hope the event will help recognise and reward businesses and high achievers in the area.

‘There are fantastic businesses, groups, clubs and charities in and around Gorey and many never get the help, or recognition they deserve. We hope that this will turn out to be an annual highlight of the social calendar for the wider Gorey area,’ said Philip.

The local community have been asked to put forward nominations for the last few weeks and the winners will be determined by a combination of the public votes and a panel of five local business, all members from the Gorey Business Network.

‘All profits from the night will be donated to Gorey area based charities and community groups from the top five nominated for that category.

‘Tickets are selling very well and we are confident that of a full house,’ he said.

Awards will be given in a separate business and endeavour category, and awards include Gorey young person of the year, community group of the year as well as life achievement in the endeavour section.

While in the business category, awards range from entrepreneur of the year to best retail, family or hospitality business as well as most green business, visitor attraction and best shop front.
