Preparations under way as Gorey Night Run is launched
PREPARATIONS are well under way as Gorey Night Run five kilometre race which is back and this year celebrates its fifth birthday on February 20.
The popular event in aid of the North Wexford Hospice Homecare will begin from Gorey Library at 7.30 p.m. and in its previous four years, has raised over €50,000 for the chosen charity.
Organisers are looking ahead to a night of fun for all involved.
‘Gorey Night Run has firmly established itself as one of the biggest participation events in county Wexford. The support of Altura Credit Union and a host of other local businesses again this year, means that every cent raised by the participants can go straight to the North Wexford Hospice,’ said Cllr John Hegarty of the race committee.
‘We are extremely grateful to all our sponsors as well as the Gardai, the Red Cross Ambulance service, the Coast Guard and the staff of Wexford County Council who all play a vital role on the night. Last years event saw over 1,000 people take to the streets of Gorey and organisers hope that it will be a similar success this year’.
Organisers are now welcoming registrations, which is open to all ages and fitness levels, and costs €15 per adult and €5 per child excluding fees.
