The Spring Break to the Great National Hotel, Ballina in county Mayo will start on April 26 for five nights.

Bookings at Loch Garman Arms on Fridays between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Gorey has entered two teams for the South East Region Bowls Championsh­ip to be held in Ballon Community Centre on May 12, 13 and 14.

A new year has just started and it’s a time to consider changes to our lives to make them richer and more interestin­g.

Active retirement offer weekly events like bowls on Monday, Darts and Go for life on Tuesday, Walk on Wednesday, art on Thursday, Irish Class Friday.

In addition there are spring and autumn breaks, mystery trips, visits to theatres, Horse and dog racing, tours to places of interest, tea dances, 10 pin bowls, Christmas dinner dance.

Non-members are very welcome to find out more about all the activities by dropping into Loch Garman Arms on Fridays between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and try something new.

All are welcome to join in on this special recital and talk with Dr Noel Culleton in Gorey Library on Tuesday, January 28, at 7 p.m.

Author Dr Noel Culleton will discuss the lives of the composers contained within his book ‘Classical Connection­s’, which describes 50 fateful encounters that changed the course of music history.

During the talk there will be the opportunit­y to listen to short excerpts from relevant pieces by these composers.

This eclectic and entertaini­ng mix of stories will appeal to music fans young and old.

Books will be for sale on the night with profits from book sales going to Family Carers Ireland.
