Harrow cycle money is presented to hospital

-

THE Harrow Cycle Group has presented a cheque for €3,710 to the paediatric unit of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.

The money was raised from last year’s annual Harrow Cycle and in a letter to the organisers Dr Terence Prenderville, who is a consultant paediatric cardiologist at the hospital, expressed sincere gratitude to everyone involved in the event.

In the letter to the group committee Dr Prenderville thanked the members for their fundraising efforts.

‘I am very grateful for the generous donation from your recent charity cycle,’ said Dr Prenderville.

The money will go towards two cardiac monitors that the hospital uses for children who may have inherited heart disease and are at risk of arrhythmia.

‘These sophisticated monitors are used every week in the clinic, worn by the children under their clothes, and last many years, providing reassurance to hundreds of children and families in the lifetime of the monitor,’ said Dr Prenderville in the letter.

He also said the hospital clinic is short of such monitors and with that in mind the donation from the cycle group is ‘very much appreciated’.

The fact the group representatives also travelled up to personally deliver the cheque to the hospital was also commended by Dr Prenderville.

The organisers of the Harrow cycle expressed their own gratitude to everyone who supported the event which was a great success.

To-date the cycle has raised €152,202.53 between 2001 and 2019 and the organisers are now looking forward to this year’s event.
